Making the Best of your Holiday Break
Tis the season for a break!!! Can I get an AMEN! I love this time of year because I get an extended break to be with my family and friends. I'm living Kansas City and heading back to Saint Louis and what usually ends up happening is I go into hibernation mode for about 3 days, like I haven't been getting sleep for 6 months. This time around I'm going to do things a little bit different so I'm able to maximize my time at home intentional and purposeful. I've got stuff to do and it needs to start before the new year.
Don't get it twisted I will still be going into hibernation mode once I get home. This is the best time to just turn off your phone and completely disconnect from the world. Going home where you have no obligations is the best feeling in the world. No one needs you for anything and you have no plans so sleep can be your #1 priority. People underestimate the importance of getting adequate sleep. We are always busy and live our best lives but, we need to live our best lives in bed as well.
As you know, I live out of town and a lot of my close friends live in St. Louis so I take this opportunity to catch up with them and create memories. I wish I was able to see them more often but adulating is hard and life continues. I make sure that I reach out to them and set up times to go out and eat and talk and catch up on life. I hate being out of the loop but I understand that we are all doing things to level up. Yes, it might cost me a pretty penny to eat out but those relationships are worth it.
This is also a great opportunity to catch up on personal projects. As much as you want a break from everything, you have to admit that this extra time is perfect for working on some of those personal tasks that have taken a back seat during the year. I have some things lined up that are going to make heading into the new year 10 times easier and less stressful. Trust me if you put a few hours of work during your holiday you'll going to feel so accomplished.
| Quality Family Time
As much as I miss my friends when I'm gone, I extremely miss my family. There are times that I cancel plans with friends just so I can spend quality time with my family. They mean so much to me and do an amazing job in supporting me from afar. This is my way of showing them how much they mean to me. As you get older you begin to see your immediate family less and less which means the few times that you do see them you have to make it as meaningful as possible. Spend some time with your parents together and individually. Those moments are priceless.
| Extreme Self-Care
Indulge in good food, good times and radical self care. Your Holiday break should be a time when your get to rejuvenate and recharge. Define what self-care is for yourself and do that on the extremely level. Throughout the year we practice self care to stay sane and to keep grinding take time during your holiday break to really get back to yourself. Take positively to yourself and treat yourself with kindness. You won't regret it. I promise.
