Before we even dive into this post, can we just talk about how March flew by. Legitimately, that month went by so fast and I tried my best to take advantage of each and everyday because it was Women's history month. Which is such a great time to celebrate and really be appreciative of the women in your life. There are definitely times where are strides towards excellence gets over shadowed and sometimes we feel inadequate. This month was a great reminder of all the great things that we have done and continue to keep doing in order to make ourselves better.
I'm sure by now you've realized that I'm all for women empowerment. I breath and live by the philosophy that we are stronger and better together. I am involved with a plethora of groups that have amazing women. I have friends that have advanced degrees, friends who are entrepreneurs, friends who are jet setters, mentees that are on their way to figuring what life is all about and supporters who strive to make higher education accessible and inclusive. I take pride in surrounding myself with women who reflect who I want to be when I grow up.
Girl Tribes are a real thing and everyone should have one. Find people in your life that you can just sit and have lunch with and talk about life for hours. Have friends that you can call when you are going through a mental breakdown and don't know what do to next. have to have a hype man that will cheer you on no matter what. Sometimes you need that mom figure in your life that just has more life experience and help you understand that life is tough but you're tougher. You attract what you need in life. Remember that in order to have good friends you have to be a good friend. You are valuable and worthy and people see your light.
I took it upon myself this month it actively celebrate the women in my life and hosted a Women's History Month Photo shoot and meet up. I put a call to action on Instagram inviting anyone who wanted to participate and to my surprise people came and loved on each other.
